On the April 24 episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H unveiled the brand new World Heavyweight Championship for the brand that did not draft Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the 2023 WWE Draft and that the champion would be crowned at Night of Champions.
During the draft, Roman Reigns was drafted to SmackDown, and that makes the World Heavyweight Championship exclusive to Raw. To crown the new champion, WWE announced a tournament including wrestlers from both brands with a bracket for each brand. Seth Rollins reached the finals from the Raw brand and AJ Styles reached finals from SmackDown. And scheduled to face each other at WWE Night of Champions 2023.
At WWE Night Of Champions 2023 opening match, The Visionary Seth Rollins defeated The Phenomenal AJ Styles and became the inaugural WWE World Heavyweight champion.
