The match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 16 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium was an absolute rollercoaster. It went down to the wire and was finally decided in a Super Over the first one in the IPL since 2025.
RR won the toss and chose to bowl first. DC got off to a steady start with Abishek Porel scoring 49 and KL Rahul adding 38. Towards the end, Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs added quick runs to take Delhi to a strong total of 188/5. Jofra Archer bowled well for RR, picking up 2 wickets.
Rajasthan started their chase really well. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 51 and Sanju Samson looked in great touch with 31 off just 19 balls before he had to leave the field due to a rib injury.
Nitish Rana kept RR in the game with a solid 51 off 28 balls. In the end, RR matched DC’s score exactly 188 runs which meant the match had to be decided by a Super Over.
In the Super Over, RR could only score 11 runs. DC chased it down with two balls left and took the win. With this win, DC are now at the top of the IPL 2025 table with five wins from six matches. RR are struggling a bit with just two wins in seven games.
