WWE

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes recently reminisced about his first meeting with the company before his return at WrestleMania 38. The American Nightmare disclosed that he apologized for one thing.

The 38-year-old spent about a decade in the Stamford-based company before requesting his release and departing in 2016. Over the next six years, he competed in other promotions and helped build AEW. Nevertheless, Rhodes made his comeback at WrestleMania 38 and has since become one of the top superstars in the company.

In a recent interview with the Behind The Turnbuckle podcast, The American Nightmare addressed his return to the company. He stated that the first meeting saw him thanking the promotion and apologizing for the way he left six years earlier.

“That first meeting back was not about coming back. It was more about let’s find out kind of where we are in our lives now. And in a way thanking WWE. And in a way apologizing to WWE for how I left in the first place. But I really wanted them to know, and I might’ve been too strong armed about it, I wanted them to know, ‘Hey, I have a sense of how to do this, how live crowds flow, the rhythm of the night, and if I can earn your trust.'” he said.
