Jazmyn Nyx, the former WWE NXT standout known for her icy demeanor and devastating Pelé Kick, has opened up about the unlikely journey that led her from the soccer fields of Syracuse to the squared circle of NXT. In a candid interview with Ariel Helwani, Nyx real name Jade Gentile shared the twists, turns, and pivotal moments that shaped her path into professional wrestling.
From Soccer Star to Wrestling Aspirant
Before she became a name in NXT, Jade Gentile was a standout athlete on the soccer pitch. At West Virginia University, she racked up an impressive 60 goals and 19 assists, showcasing the kind of footwork and precision that would later become her wrestling trademarks. But as her collegiate career wound down, Gentile found herself at a crossroads.
“I loved soccer, but I always felt like there was something missing,” Gentile told Helwani. “I was looking for a new challenge, something that would push me in ways I hadn’t been pushed before.”
It was during this period that wrestling entered her radar. Inspired by the athleticism and storytelling of WWE, Gentile began training at local gyms, eventually catching the eye of scouts at the WWE Performance Center. On November 10, 2022, she officially signed with WWE as part of the Fall 2022 Rookie Class.
The Chase University Era and the Birth of Jazmyn Nyx
Gentile’s early days in NXT were marked by a slow build. She debuted at live events in August 2023, teaming with Elektra Lopez and Lola Vice in a six-woman tag match. But it wasn’t until January 2024 that she truly stepped into the spotlight, adopting the ring name Jazmyn Nyx and joining the Chase University storyline.
As a student at Chase U, Nyx quickly aligned herself with Jacy Jayne, forming a duo that mocked Thea Hail and eventually turned on the group. “I was nervous at first,” Nyx admitted. “But once I got into the rhythm of the character, I realized I could bring something unique to the table.”
Her televised in-ring debut came on March 26, 2024, in a loss to Hail. But Nyx’s star was on the rise. On June 4, she earned her first televised singles win by defeating Hail, solidifying her status as a rising heel in NXT.
The Rise of Fatal Influence
Nyx’s career took a dramatic turn in July 2024 when she joined forces with Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley to form Fatal Influence. The trio quickly became one of NXT’s most talked-about factions, known for their ruthless tactics and disdain for rookies.
“Being part of Fatal Influence was a game-changer,” Nyx said. “It allowed me to explore a darker side of my character and work with some incredibly talented women.”
The group’s debut at The Great American Bash on July 30 was a six-woman tag team victory over Karmen Petrovic, Lola Vice, and Sol Ruca. Over the next several months, Fatal Influence feuded with top names in NXT, including Tatum Paxley, Gigi Dolin, and Shotzi.
The Backstage Attack and Departure from WWE
Despite her success, Nyx’s time in WWE came to an abrupt end. On September 23, 2025, she was found attacked backstage, leading to her expulsion from Fatal Influence after being abandoned by Jayne and Henley. The incident marked the end of her WWE tenure.
“Leaving WWE was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made,” Nyx said. “But I felt it was time to move on and explore new opportunities.”
According to a WWE insider, Nyx’s departure was amicable, with both parties agreeing to part ways after her contract expired. “Jade was a consummate professional and a joy to work with,” the insider revealed. “She left on good terms and will always be welcome back if she chooses.”
What’s Next for Jazmyn Nyx?
Since leaving WWE, Nyx has kept a low profile, but she’s open to remaining in the wrestling world. “I’m not ruling anything out,” she told Helwani. “I’ve received offers from other promotions and even some reality TV opportunities, but I’m taking my time to figure out what’s next.”
Nyx’s journey from soccer star to WWE NXT standout is a testament to her resilience and determination. As she looks to the future, one thing is clear: Jazmyn Nyx’s story is far from over.
