Disturbing new information has come to light in the criminal case involving Shawn Chan, the Canadian man accused of stalking WWE Superstar Liv Morgan. Recent court filings, unsealed in late August, reveal startling details about Chan’s actions leading up to his arrest and his current legal status as he seeks bail ahead of his scheduled trial.
The Incident: Unauthorized Visit to Liv Morgan’s Residence
Shawn Chan traveled from Scarborough, Ontario, to Orlando, Florida, on May 26, 2024, purportedly intending to stay at the WWE Performance Center. However, officials later confirmed the WWE training facility has no public housing available, raising immediate suspicions. Four days after his arrival, on May 30, Chan reportedly drove several hours to Liv Morgan’s private Florida residence.
Security footage shows Chan circling the property multiple times before entering the backyard. He then attempted unsuccessfully to open Morgan’s front door. During his time on the premises, Chan was observed holding an air pellet rifle that he allegedly found on the front porch. After lingering outside for several hours, he left a handwritten note before departing the property.
Contents of the Handwritten Note: A Troubling Message
The note left by Chan offers insight into his mindset and connection to Morgan. It identified him as “Shawn, the guy you all hang out with on [online gaming platform],” accusing Morgan and others of trying to contact him when he was absent from the game. The note said:
“I NEVER said and did anything bad for over 10 years, yet you all dared hating me for no reason. I came here to pay just a friendly visit, nothing more. Yet, I’m the one who looks like a stalker thanks to all of you…”
The message contained a mix of denial, paranoia, and hostility, with Chan claiming innocence while simultaneously expressing bitterness about his ostracization. The disturbing tone raised serious concern for Morgan’s safety and mental well-being.
Arrest and Legal Proceedings
After WWE security personnel reviewed surveillance footage from Morgan’s home, they identified Chan and alerted federal authorities. The FBI arrested Chan on June 3, 2024. He was subsequently indicted on one count of interstate domestic violence related to stalking. If convicted, Chan faces up to five years in prison.
Further court documents reveal that Chan waived his right to a speedy trial to allow time for a psychiatric evaluation. His trial is scheduled for November 2025. Recently, Chan’s legal team has filed a motion seeking his release from jail ahead of the trial, proposing transfer to a Salvation Army facility for supervised release. As of early September 2025, this motion remains under judicial consideration, and Chan remains incarcerated at Hernando County Jail.
