The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will host the Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 55 of the IPL 2025 on Monday, May 5, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Playoff Stakes Are High
It’s now or never for SRH. Currently placed ninth on the points table, they must win all their remaining matches to have even a slim, mathematical shot at reaching the playoffs.
DC, meanwhile, are just outside the top four and need to steady the ship quickly. A couple more losses could seriously derail their campaign.
Team Form Check
Sunrisers Hyderabad are coming off a tough 38-run defeat against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. Their bowling let them down, conceding 224/6, and despite a fiery 74 off 41 balls from Abhishek Sharma, they could only manage 186/6 in response. Overall, SRH’s performances with both bat and ball have been underwhelming this season.
Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, have had a dramatic dip in form. After starting the season with four straight wins, they’ve lost four of their last six matches. In their most recent game, they were beaten by 14 runs by Kolkata Knight Riders while chasing 205. Their inconsistency while chasing has been a recurring issue, and they’ll be eager to fix that.
Head-to-Head: A Tight Rivalry
These two teams have faced each other 25 times in the IPL, and it’s been a close contest. SRH have won 13, while DC have taken 12 victories.
Earlier this season, when the sides met in Visakhapatnam, Delhi Capitals dominated, winning by seven wickets.
Overall Record:
- Matches Played: 25
- SRH Wins: 13
- DC Wins: 12
- No Results: 0
With SRH fighting to stay alive and DC pushing for a playoff spot, this match is set to be a high-pressure battle. One slip, and it could be the end of the road for either team.
