The Indian Premier League (IPL) never stops evolving and this season, they’ve taken things up a notch with a futuristic twist that’s got everyone talking!
During the high-energy action of IPL 2025, the league surprised fans with a sneak peek into the future of cricket broadcasting. In a video shared across IPL’s official social media channels, a robot dog made a jaw-dropping appearance at the practice sessions greeting players, showing off cool features, and turning quite a few heads.
Stars like Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Reece Topley got up close with the high-tech pup. Delhi Capitals’ skipper Axar was visibly surprised, asking, “Kya hai yeh?” (What is this?). Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians’ quick Reece Topley chuckled, asking, “What type of dog is it?” Hardik, always the entertainer, had some fun with the robot and even called it a “good boy” after it followed his commands.
Veteran commentator Danny Morrison jumped in to explore the gadget further, giving fans a glimpse at some of its cool features including robotic paw-shakes and high-res cameras that could transform the way matches are captured and broadcast. One particular pose, lovingly dubbed the “love pose,” had players and Danny absolutely hooked.

Not one to miss a moment of fun, Danny also challenged the robot dog to a race… only to admit defeat with a laugh, saying it was just too fast for him. Before wrapping up, Morrison invited fans to help name the robot. He promised that lucky winners would be part of a special naming ceremony adding yet another fun layer to this already exciting season.
The IPL has always been about blending sport with spectacle and with this robotic addition, it looks like the future is already here.
