Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed South African batter Dewald Brevis as a replacement for injured fast bowler Gurjapneet Singh for the rest of IPL 2025. Gurjapneet is out of the tournament due to injury and Brevis has joined the team for ₹2.2 crore.
Brevis, also known as ‘Baby AB’, has played 81 T20 matches and scored 1,787 runs, with a top score of 162. He made his T20I debut for South Africa in 2023 and has played 2 international T20s so far. He was earlier part of Mumbai Indians and played 10 matches for them.
Fans had a feeling something was coming when Brevis posted a plain yellow image on Instagram on April 18. Since yellow is CSK’s color, people guessed he might be joining the team and now it’s official.
This is CSK’s second replacement this season. Earlier, Ayush Mhatre was brought in after captain Ruturaj Gaikwad got injured with a hairline fracture on his left elbow. MS Dhoni has taken over the captaincy again in Ruturaj’s absence.
Brevis now has a big chance to shine in yellow for the rest of the season.
