Austin Theory About His Run As Mr. Money In The Bank
Recently, Austin Theory spoke about his unsatisfying experience with the 2022 Money in the Bank briefcase. In a ladder match, Theory emerged victorious over other talented superstars such as Seth Rollins, Matt Riddle, and Omos to secure the MITB contract. Despite his efforts, Theory was unable to cash in the briefcase on Roman Reigns at SummerSlam and Clash at the Castle. It wasn’t until a RAW episode last year that he finally had the chance to cash in on Seth Rollins for the United States Championship, but unfortunately, he was unsuccessful.
The US Champion Austin Theory recently appeared as special guest on Busted Open Radio and discussed about several topics. While speaking Austin Theory, stated that things were controversial when he became Mr. Money in the Bank, and that he didn’t have enough credibility to be the one to dethrone Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
“I think the briefcase is where it got a lot of controversy. Basically, it just kind of was getting to the point if you were looking at it from like a widescale of ‘where’s this going,’ you look at Roman Reigns, he’s pretty much immortal right now. So, I think, for me, in a sense of, I need to be way more built up to look even possible to beat Roman Reigns. The briefcase was just kind of an anchor on me,” said Theory. (H/T: Wrestling Inc)
During his cash-in on Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley interfered and attacked Austin Theory after pulling the referee out of the ring. Seth Rollins managed to win the match and retain the US title. Austin Theory told Wrestling Inc. that the All Mighty Bobby Lashley is the reason why he lost the match and added that he’s done with Lashley.
“I was like, all right, I’m going to dust myself off. I’m going to go win the Money in the Bank match… And I beat everybody. And then after that, look at my Money in the Bank cash-in. The only reason I didn’t successfully cash in was because of Bobby Lashley. So what happened this past Monday? We got rid of Bobby Lashley. He lost. He lost. You lost, Bobby. You lost,” said Theory.
Cody Rhodes About His Past Frustrations With WWE
Cody Rhodes’ current status as a top WWE star is in stark contrast to his earlier tenure with the company. After almost a decade of working for WWE, Cody Rhodes chose to leave in 2016, feeling unsatisfied with his final portrayal as the offbeat Stardust character, a spoof of his brother’s beloved Goldust character from the Attitude Era.
During a recent interview with Logan Paul on his Impaulsive podcast, The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes explained why he chose to leave WWE in 2016.
“Stardust is the reason I left. So it really the story was I was with WWE since I was 19 and was kind of a very much a legacy hire. They knew he was Dusty’s son and that opened the door for me. And then the tricky thing being second or third generation once the doors open once you got that special treatment here, now your expectations are through the roof. I wasn’t ready for those expectations, slow learner all that.” (H/T: Inside The Ropes)
