Tonight’s WWE Friday Night Smackdown is live from Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio, as well as the Rolling Loud festival in Miami, Florida. It’s Money In The Bank fallout episode of Smackdown and WWE announced few segments.
After the John Cena’s WWE return, he made it clear that he’s coming after Universal Champion Roman Reigns on this week’s WWE Raw and also he’s coming to Smackdown this week. Let’s see how Roman Reigns responds to John Cena’s return on tonight’s show.
WWE also announced that Binaca Belair will defend her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Carmella in a rematch and Big E set to face Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews in one-on-one match. WWE also announced that Toni Strom will make her main roster debut on tonight’s show.

– Tonight’s Smackdown opened with John Cena making his way to the and got huge pop from the Cleveland crowd. John Cena says he’s amped up tonight and he understand because it’s been a hell of a week. Cena says he’s excited over Money In The Bank that he had to visit Monday Night Raw for Q&A with fans. He then jokes about Peacemaker and losing to Bray Wyatt in Firefly Fun House Match at WrestleMania 36.
Cena further says how he’s here to chin-check that lifeless ego-maniac, WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. He continues that he’s back to challenge Roman Reigns for Universal Championship at Summer Slam 2021. Cena goes on and mentions MLB’s Cleveland Indians changing their name to the Cleveland Guardians. He also wants to put Guardians in his middle name as someone need to protect WWE because Smackdown with Reigns as a champion absolutely sucks. That’s just his perspective and his opinion.
Cena knows there are hundreds of Roman Reigns fans out there somewhere. He continues and says the fans deserved to be heard. No more ThunderDome, no more LED screens, we are live and in your face. Cena says SummerSlam isn’t just a match for Universal Title but it’s a chance for all of us to stand up for what we believe in. What do you believe in? Fans chant “Cena!” now.
Then, Cena asks, are you on Team Jorts or Team Cargo Pants? Team Hustle, Loyalty and Respect, or a team that fans always reject. Team Cena or Team Reigns? Speaking of Reigns, where is he? John Cena says Roman Reigns can’t see him. He continues that after Summer Slam Roman Reigns will realize that The Champ is here.
Now, John Cena calls out Roman Reigns to the ring so that they can make this happen, make history. Reigns isn’t coming out. Cena once again asks nicely that if Reigns will come out. Finally, Paul Heyman makes his way out with some boos. Heyman says that Roman Reigns can see him but can’t hear him because Cena isn’t worth to Reigns listening.
Paul Heyman says Cena will get the answer on his challenge some time tonight but only when Roman Reigns decides to come out and show everyone that The Tribal Chief is here. Then, Heyman mocks Cena’s theme song as Cena looks on from the ring. Heyman makes his way to back. Then, Cena music hits and he exits from the ring.
– Kayla Braxton at backstage with sad Baron Corbin and asks about his crowd funding website that he launched last week. Corbin says he didn’t raise any money but he actually lost money with that venture. He tells that developer he hired ghosted him after receiving payment, and then stole his identity because his credit is gone. Corbin had to ride the public bus here today and complains about the smell. Corbin wonders what’s happened to him? He walks off.
– Mr. Money In The Bank Big E makes his way to the ring and we see the highlights of Money In The Bank Ladder Match last Sunday. Big E in the ring and starts to speak but a “you deserve it!” chant starts up. Big E talks about how Sunday was the night he never forget but music interrupts, here comes Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews along with Commander Azeez.
Crews congratulated Big E for overcoming the odds but his win was not same as winning a title, like Crews did at WrestleMania 37. Now, music hits, here comes Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode and cutting the promo but music interrupts and here comes Rick Boogs with his guitar. He started performing Shinsuke Nakamura entrance and he outcomes next. Now, Cesaro comes out and says enough of talking, he wants title and Apollo, it’s Swing time, in Cleveland. Big brawl breaks out in the ring and Crews retreats to the floor.
Cesaro sends Dolph Ziggler to the floor. Azeez goes for double choke Slam on Cesaro and Nakamura but they fights back. Big E joins them and sends Azeez to the floor with big clothesline. Crews back to the ring but Cesaro starts to swing him. Azeez quickly pulls out Crews. Cesaro, Big E and Nakamura stood tall in the ring while Crews, Azeez, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode stood at ringside.
– Pat McAfee and Micheal Cole send us to the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida for the Rolling Loud rap festival. Rapper Wale welcomes us and he’s on stage in front of a packed crowd. He gets the crowd to chant “we want the smoke!” and then introduces The Street Profits.
– Angelo Dawkins defeated Chad Gable via Pinfall. After the match, Montez Ford joins with Dawkins for celebrations, then, music hits, here comes Smackdown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair. She make her way through the crowd and poses with them.
– Binaca Belair defeated Carmella via Pinfall and successfully retained her Smackdown Women’s Championship. After the match, Binaca Belair celebrates in the ring and fireworks go off above Hard Rock Stadium.
– We go back to the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland. Kevin Owens at backstage with Shotzi BlackHeart and Tegan Nox, and talking about their tank. Baron Corbin walks up and says it’s a bad habit picking on the way Owens dressed before. He apologizes and asks if Owens can forgive him. Owens agrees and says it’s a bad habit of being jerk and Corbin brought it upon himself.
Owens asks of Corbin wearing the same shirt as last week, Corbin says it’s different one. But Owens points out a stain on it and Owens ends up giving Corbin what looks like $40 and also tells him try and not to be like a jerk. Corbin thanks him and says this will be a big help for him. Owens walks off.
We see a projectile hits Corbin below the belt, it seems Shotzi BlackHeart tank is working again. Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler apparently fired it and came out laughing and snatches $40 from Corbin. Owens comes back with steel chair and chases them away. Owens shakes his head while standing next to Corbin, who is still down.
– WWE Hall Of Famer Edge makes his way to the ring and we see the main event of Money In The Bank PPV in which Seth Rollins costs Edge his Universal Championship Match. Edge in the ring, he thanks Cleveland and says we have no idea what these reactions do for him. He talks about the history and how he fought hard to get all this back and says we all know that he should be standing here as Universal Champion but he’s not because of one reason – Seth Rollins.
Edge thought he had his bases covered, he even had The Mysterios to fight off SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos. Edge says it’s bigger than the title, it goes back to 2014. Edge says Rollins didn’t pull the trigger in 2014 when he had the chance because he didn’t think Edge would be back again. But Edge is here and he’s in Rollins way. Edge goes on and says Rollins has no idea of the Pandora’s Box of violence and mental pain he has opened.
Edge says he’s learned from most evil minds in the business, he was in The Brood and The Ministry of Darkness. Edge says Rollins had not idea of how depth he sink into to get job done but he will find it out soon. Music hits, here comes The Messiah Seth Rollins. He says someone mentioned his name and laughs at Edge. Edge tells him to shut up and says he’s embarassing himself.
Edge calls Seth Rollins to get into the ring and talk it out like man-to-man and says he won’t put hands on him. Rollins making his way to the ring and says Edge isn’t stupid to put his hands on man, knowing what he’s capable of. Rollins mentions how he despises people like Edge and John Cena, who come back and get spots they don’t deserve.
Seth Rollins in the ring and says he wanted to talk about all those things but the more he thought about it, he agrees with the people and is thrilled Edge is standing in his ring. Rollins tells fans to give it for Grandpa Edge, who can’t keep his name out of his mouth. Seth says Edge has been such a scumbag to him and he would be more happy to crush the Edge’s dream and put an end to his little comeback story. Rollins says seven years back he had chance to end the Edge but he hesitated.
Rollins continued that he won’t hesitate next time when he has his boot on the back of Edge’s surgically repaired neck and laughs about Edge’s neck. Edge says he was a liar when he said he won’t put hands on Rollins and attacks him. Edge unloads on Rollins and beating him down. Rollins turns it around but Edge kicks him and hits the Edgeucution. Edge goes for a Spear but Rollins retreats to the floor and headed to back.
– Jimmy Uso defeated Dominik Mysterio via Pinfall. After the match, Rey had some words with referee as Usos stood tall and celebrates with the title. The Usos on the stage and waits as Tribal Chief Roman Reigns making his way to the ring.
– The Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the ring with Paul Heyman. Reigns tells Cleveland to acknowledge him and he got mixed reactions. Reigns also tells the people at home to acknowledge him. You might as well because everyone else is, including John Cena. Reigns tells John Cena acknowledged him at Money In The Bank, at Raw and tonight.
Reigns tells he wanted to acknowledge John Cena, he really did, but Hollywood fooled him, they put the whole new paint job on Cena. Reigns thought he would get something new but John Cena came out and put an nostalgic act, the same thing. The same music, outfit, entrance, run to the ring, promo, insults, everything.
Reigns says if he wanted to see that Cena then all he had to do was search online for 2005 John Cena. It was the same thing over and over again. Reigns says he’s not interested in that, he doesn’t get motivated and inspired by that. Roman says Cena us right that he can’t see Cena, doesn’t want to see Cena and doesn’t need to see Cena.
Reigns has no desire to see Cena, and guess where we’re not going to see Cena? We’re not going to see Cena in the main event of SummerSlam, because Roman Reigns answer to Cena’s challenge is no. The music hits, here comes Finn Balor and got huge pop. Roman Reigns surprised and Paul Heyman says something to Reigns. Balor enters the ring.
Reigns tells that Paul Heyman said Balor is here to follow suit, like John Cena does and acknowled him. Finn Balor says he’s not here to acknowledge the Reigns but if Reigns isn’t interested in John Cena’s challenge, then, he may be interested in Balor’s challenge. Reigns laughs and fans chant “yes!”. Heyman says something else to Reigns as Balor stares them down. Fans chant “Roman’s scared!” now.
Roman Reigns says challenge accepted. Finn Balor and Roman Reigns stare each other down and Cole says it looks like we’re going to have a Balor vs. Reigns match and Smackdown goes off air while both staring at eachother.
