After successfully defending his WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman at WrestleMania Backlash, Bobby Lashley issued a open challenge to anyone in the locker expect Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman on the following episode of Monday Night Raw.
On main event, Kofi Kingston answered the open challenge but MVP revealed that it’s a non-title match to face Bobby Lashley. However, Kofi Kingston won the match with help of Drew McIntyre.
Following week, WWE Official Adam Pearce announced #1 Contender match for WWE Title between Drew McIntyre and Kofi Kingston but that match was ended in double disqualification after MVP and Bobby Lashley attacking both the competitors.
Then, Adam Pearce schedule that match for next week and banned Bobby Lashley and MVP from the ringside. Drew McIntyre won the match and got the WWE Title shot at Hell In A Cell 2021 PPV. Following epsiode on Raw, during the contract signing MVP proposed that it would be the last chance for Drew McIntyre and if he loses he won’t get another shot for WWE Title. Then, Drew McIntyre stated that he want that match inside Hell In A Cell. Both of them accepted the terms and made this match official for Hell In A Cell Pay-Per-View.
It was a brutal encounter between the Allmighty Bobby Lashley and Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre inside Hell In A Cell. Drew McIntyre got the control over from the start of the match and used everything he got. Drew McIntyre got many close calls and almost looks like he regained the title.
In the middle of the match, Bobby Lashley used steel chair on Drew McIntyre but he fought back and hits the referee accidentally. Then, Drew McIntyre goes for future shock DDT and goes for pin but referee was unconscious. Another referee unlocked the cage and enters the ring. McIntyre hits Claymore to Bobby Lashley and goes for pin but MVP grabs referee.
Furious Drew McIntyre set his sight on MVP and unloaded on him. He brings him to the ring and hits Claymore to MVP. But Bobby Lashley recovers and applied Hurt Lock to McIntyre at ringside but hits through the table and breaks the Hurt Lock.
At the closing moments, Drew goes for Claymore but Lashley ducks it. Then, Lashley sends McIntyre to the ring post. Lashley goes for spear but Drew decks it, Lashley hit to the ring post. Then, Drew hits Glasgow Kiss headbutt and Future Shock DDT in the middle of the ring.
Drew McIntyre at the corner of the ring looking to hit Claymore but MVP catches McIntyre leg. McIntyre turns around MVP to kick, then, Lashley took advantage and rolls up for pin to retain the WWE Championship.
