WWE recently announced that Summer Slam 2021 going to take place on August 21st, Saturday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. There were many rumors surfaced around the internet that 16-time World Champion John Cena might return to face Universal Champion Roman Reigns at biggest event of summer.

According to the WrestleVotes, few WWE sources confirmed them that  WWE is putting it’s full effort to make this year’s Summer Slam as WrestleMania event. It was also noted that Roman Reigns vs. John Cena might be headline to the event.
“After speaking to a few sources on the topic, I’ve learned that WWE is 100% attempting to make SummerSlam this year’s WrestleMania,” wrote WrestleVotes. “‘All resources will be tapped into’ is how it was explained to me. I do believe they want Reigns v Cena to headline. Not sure if they’ve decided.”

Following this report from WrestleVotes, John Alba of Spectrum Sports 360 confirmed from multiple sources that WWE is planning towards Roman Reigns vs. John Cena at this moment for WWE Summer Slam 2021. It was also noted that John Cena’s schedule clears up before the WWE go on road.
“I can confirm, after speaking with multiple sources, Roman Reigns vs. John Cena is the targeted main event at this moment,” wrote Alba.

“Cena’s schedule clears up in the beginning of July, which would allow him to return to #WWE in time for the return of fans,” Alba continued.
